County Executive Kamenetz Condemns Senate Health Care Vote, Calls on Gov. Hogan to Fight for Marylanders

Jul. 25 2017

TOWSON, MD (July 25, 2017)— Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz today issued the following statement following the vote by the U.S Senate to move forward with the repeal of the Affordable Care Act:

“Today’s feckless vote from Senate Republicans to begin to repeal the Affordable Care Act will be a death sentence for many Marylanders.

“By repealing the ACA, more than a quarter million Marylanders will lose their health care while devastating the state’s budget by forcing Maryland to choose between gutting critical Medicaid services or footing the whole bill.”

“What’s equally sickening is that Governor Hogan sat idly by until the eleventh hour as his Republican colleagues played backroom politics with people’s lives. He has offered no plan to support at those Marylanders now at risk.

“The time for sitting on the sidelines is over, Governor. Marylanders need leadership.”
